Later on the ship Bones has nursed this still unnamed leader practically back to health, to the pleasure of McGiver. Kirk yells at McGiver for practically endangering his crew with her infatuation of this unnamed man and Bones just kind of sits back and smiles. After Kirk and McGiver leaves, Bones does some doctor-y stuff and unnamed wakes up. He grabs a knife then hears Bones coming back so he runs back to his little bed. When Bones comes to check him out unnamed grabs his throat with one hand and points the knife at his throat with the other. Then Bones says one of my favorite lines from the episode and one of my all time favorite Bones lines all together, "Either choke me or cut my throat, make up your mind."
Unnamed tries to ask Bones some questions(still with the knife at his throat), but all Bones does is give these really smart aleck answers. Unnamed eventually puts the knife down and asks Bones to call the Captain. He does and Kirk comes down surprisingly quickly. Kirk asks Unnamed his name and he won't answer until Kirk answers a few questions. Kirk answers willingly and Unnamed reveals his name to be Khan. Kirk tries to press for more info about Khan and his crew, but Khan feigns fatigue and Bones makes him leave.
McGiver comes to check on Khan and Khan pretty much ignores every single thing she says and just flirts with her. Khan convinces McGiver that it would be a good idea for him to dine with the captain and a few others. She makes this happen, but in a later shot Bones seems skeptical about this. He states earlier that Khan and his crew are super humans: stronger in every way possible.
In the next shot, Khan's actually in his own little quarter's in this yellow shirt that shows so much chest they might as well not have even bothered shutting the dang thing. McGiver comes in to see him and as expected they kiss.
At dinner Kirk and Spock ask Khan questions about his past and the Eugenics war. That pretty much just leads to Kirk pissing off Khan and him slipping up when he's talking about war lords. He says 'we' when he means 'they' which gives Kirk something to go on when researching Khan's past. They learn that Khan was once the dictator Khan Noonien Singh, a great but traumatizing leader in the 1990's. This is seen in the way he treats McGiver. He's that bad boy that girls love. He practically abuses her the next time they meet and she's still all, "Yeah, I'll help you betray Kirk. Please kiss me again!"
I like to call this the "Love Interest Lighting." Whenever it's on a character, you know someone sees them in a 'more than friends' kinda way. |
Kirk finds Khan and there's this really super cheesy battle between Kirk's stunt double and Khan's stunt double. The only cool part about the fight was when Kirk grabs onto this metal cage, lifts himself up, and grabs Khan's neck with his feet.Khan is easily stronger than Kirk so Kirk wiggles this knob thing from a piece of machinery and it turns out to be this long pole(that seriously looks like it's made of cardboard). Kirk beats Khan with it a few times until Khan drops and then he rushes over and presses buttons. And the day is saved once again thanks to: The Powerpuff girls!
Just kidding...just kidding! No, it's saved once again by Captain Kirk!
Kirk has a hearing for the offenders and Khan and his crew are sentenced back to their planet. McGiver is given the opportunity between a Court Martial and Khan and stupidly she picks Khan, but the girl really didn't make good decisions from the beginning of the episode so I didn't find this much of a surprise.
The episode ends with Kirk and Spock discussing how interesting it would be to go back 100 years after you've impacted the Earth and see what your impact did. What do you think my dear Trekkies? If you had the opportunity to go 100 years into the future and see how you've impacted the future or how its changed would you do it? Or would you rather it stay a mystery?
